With the door shut put the faulty key into the ignition. Turn the key from position 1 to position 2 and back 4 times - you should hear a beep, such as when the lights are left on. Take the key out of the ignition and press any button - you should hear the beep again. Oct 17, 2012 · 2004 X type. Came in with code p1699. Direct short on fuse f39 in passenger compartment. Installed 10a circuit breaker - Answered by a verified Jaguar Mechanic Jan 29, 2013 · No symptoms as such (mine's a late 2001 x-type 2.5 V6). I took it to a local garage (independent) and they code read it, found it was the o2 sensor and had it fixed the same day, just over £80 for the part and 1 hour labour + vat totalled around £160 I think all in.
